Just the word Counselling can cause a stigma, but in reality it is just a helping hand on your journey. Counselling is different sort of support, support that may not be available in the usual areas like family or friends. Often we can trap emotions in, or let them out in a destructive way, a way that is harmful to ourselves or others. Counselling can be a way of expressing these emotions in a constructive way. Adler said ‘Life has no meaning except the meaning you chose to give it’. This is the philosophy of counselling. Everyone who comes decides where he or she would like to go, what they would like to do. My approach is non judgemental and non-directional so we find the path together.
You don’t need a referral you can just call. There is nothing wrong with asking for help.

Under certain circumstances some health insurers cover counselling. Counselling does not go on forever but how long the sessions continue is completely determined by each person. Each person is unique and must be treated this way, it is why counselling works, and it is not a quick fix. It involves finding your unique path to a better way of living. My fee is €70 per session.
My clients come from all over the region including Dungarvan, Waterford City, Kilmeaden, Tipperary, Clonmel, Youghal, Lismore, Cappoquin, Tallow, New Ross, Mallow and Fermoy. If you are experiencing difficulties in these areas and you would like to talk about them in a safe and non judgemental way please contact Michael Fitzgerald at the Dungarvan Counselling Centre.
